Shadow by Michael Morpurgo

Shadow, a British bomb-sniffing dog, is separated from Sergeant Brody, a British soldier serving in Afghanistan. Shadow is adopted by Aman, an Afghan boy who ultimately finds refuge in England. This is a touching tale of coincidence, courage, friendship and loyalty.

  1. I really liked the book Shadow by Michael Morpurgo. The story shadow was very entertaining. The book was about a boy named Matt that had a best friend that was taken away and being locked up for no reason. Matt one day was invited over to his grandfathers house. Matt talked to his grandfather about his friend Aman. They tried to figure out a way to get Aman and Amans mother out of a locked up cage. They tried there very best. My favorite part of the book was when Matt and his grandfather when to the place where Aman and Amans mother where locked up. Shadow is a great book!

  2. I read the book Shadow by Michael Morpurgo. Shadow takes place in the war of Iraq and Afghanistan war. It starts out with a boy named Aman, his mom and her grandmother who are trying to get out of their country because their dad was killed by the Taliban, for helping the U.S. and the U.K. fight against them. The sad part is that they live in a cave but one night he meets a bomb sniffing dog, named Shadow who helps them on their journey to the U.K. I don’t want to spoil any more but I found Shadow was a great book to read.

  3. If you like sad and gripping stories I would recommend this book called Shadow by Michael Morpugo to you. Aman is a boy from Afghanistan when war is waged between Afghanistan’s Taliban government and the United States and their allies. Aman and his Mom escape to England to live as refugees. On his journey there he meets a bomb - sniffing dog, named Shadow. The dog helps him find his way to England. This book was very sad and it reminded me of other books about children that I have read with horrible and depressing stories in impoverished countries. This book was very interesting and I hope this encourages you to try it.

  4. I think that Shadow was a good choice to do for a Nutmeg Book over the summer. It was about a boy named Aman who lived in Afghanistan. Aman and his mother wanted to leave Afghanistan so bad because there were being treated poorly. So Aman and his mother gathered up a lot of people that wanted to leave Afghanistan and got on the back of a truck. There was a little boy there that was a little younger then Aman, he had a little red toy train that he carried every where he went. Sadly the little boy died. His father gave Aman his red train to remember him by. Then he found out that his best friend Matt was in a prison with his mom in Afghanistan. Aman wanted to see Matt but he found out that kids were not allowed in the prison. Aman pleased his grandfather to go into the prison and speak to Matt to see how everything was doing. Aman found a dog rooming around the streets. But sadly Aman had to get rid of the dog. I think you should totally read Shadow!!

  5. Shadow

Shadow contains many thrills written by Michael Morpurgo, as Aman an Afghanistan boy who is going through some tough times. His only hope is to escape to England with his mother. Shadow is his only comfort as they travel to in England Aman’s Uncle Mir. As the furry dog shadow can warm anyone’s heart. This was a amazing novel and full of excitement. I enjoyed it and I think you will too.

  6. SHADOW

I think that the life thrilling book Shadow. The author Michael Morpurgo is a brilliant man to make a story like this. The pain suffering and the sacrifice made. But at the end sergeant Brodie (shadows old owner) gave shadow to Matt that was the biggest sacrifice in the book. At that moment shadow has to make a sacrifice of losing his new friend and owner. Then shadow and matt are home and are sitting in the garden. Both with slopes on there face Matt is sad because today was so amazing he knew he would never have a day like this again. Shadow is sad because he grew found of his friend and owner and now he had left them. This book grabs you and doesn’t let go. So if this book sounds a little good to you come on get it.

  7. Shadow by Michael Morpurgo is a great book if you like historical fiction and adventure. This wonderful book is about a small boy from the mountains of Afghanistan and his widowed mother who travel across Afghanistan with only a dog as their guide. It shows not only their struggles but also the tragic environment around them. Read this book and find out if they will survive this journey and finally get the happy ending they have always dreamed of.
